A court in Lucknow has issued a notice to Congress Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi.

A Sessions Court in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has issued a notice to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi regarding his alleged derogatory remark against Vinayak Damodar Savarkar during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Maharashtra last year. The notice comes in response to a criminal revision plea filed by Advocate Nripendra Pandey, challenging the dismissal of his complaint against Gandhi under Section 203 CrPC. The case has been transferred to the Additional Sessions Judge/MP-MLA court in Lucknow, with the next hearing scheduled for November 1, 2023.

Pandey's complaint alleges that Rahul Gandhi, with the intention of spreading hatred in society, referred to Vinayak Damodar Savarkar as a servant of the British who took a pension from them. He contends that Savarkar was a fearless freedom fighter and a nationalist leader who endured inhuman atrocities of the British to free India. The complaint argues that Rahul Gandhi's remarks aimed to create social disharmony and malice, causing mental and physical trauma to the complainant.
