Unconditional Apology by Patanjali
Patanjali Ayurved, co-founded by Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna, has issued a new public apology in response to the ongoing contempt case before the Supreme Court of India. The apology, published in newspapers on April 24, 2024, is an unconditional one, addressing any non-compliance or disobedience of the Supreme Court's directions and orders. This comes after the Supreme Court questioned the size and visibility of their previous apology for misleading advertisements. The new apology is a commitment to abide by the court's directions and uphold the majesty of the court and comply with applicable laws and regulations. Previously, Ramdev and Balkrishna had tendered an unconditional and unqualified apology before the Supreme Court for advertisements that made exaggerated claims about the medicinal efficacy of their products. The matter is related to the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, and the Supreme Court had expressed dissatisfaction with Patanjali Ayurved's continued publication of false and misleading advertisements, despite promising not to do so.
